Alfred Gerhard Wedereit

Mr. Alfred Gerhard Wedereit, Sr., 81, of Grovetown, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2022.

Mr. Wedereit was born June 25, 1941 in Hamburg, Germany to the late Max Wedereit and Helene Kolbach Wedereit. He had served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was an electrician by trade. Mr. Wedereit was a proud member of the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) dedicating himself to the union for over 45 years. In addition to his work with the IBEW, he also enjoyed restoring BMW motorcycles in his spare time. Mr. Wedereit was a wonderful man whose love and passion for his family will be greatly missed.

Mr. Wedereit is survived by his loving wife, Willa; his son, Alfred “Al” Wedereit, Jr. (Meghan); his sister, Renate Leissner; his sister-in-law, Waltraud Wedereit; 4 grandchildren: Erin Kwon (Bobby), Kirsten Barbin (Blake), Grace Wedereit, and Alison Wedereit; as well as 1 great-grandchild, Barrett Kwon. He was predeceased by his son, Brian Wedereit, and his brothers, Seigmar Wedereit and Horst Wedereit.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 11 am in the Chapel of Bellevue Memorial Gardens. A private family visitation will begin at 10 am until the hour of service.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Regency Hospice, Ansleigh Yawn, Keith Bartlett, and Shawn Busby for their compassion and care. It is also requested that those who wish may send memorials to the American Heart Association in Mr. Wedereit’s memory.
