Dolly L. Burns

Augusta, GA – Mrs. Dolly Lavada Partin Burns, 85, beloved wife of the late Walter E. Burns, entered into rest on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 6, 2013 at Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel with Rev. Brian LaFavor officiating. Interment to follow in Westover Memorial Park.

Mrs. Burns was originally from Kenvir, Kentucky. She worked until her retirement with Copeland’s Manufacturing in Sidney, Ohio. Mrs. Burns worked tirelessly with the MPACT Children’s Program at Crawford Avenue Baptist Church. She is greatly loved and will be missed by her family and her friends, especially Macy, Dottie, Molly, and Murphy.

Mrs. Burns is survived by her three daughters, Judy Shipes (W.L.), Susan Crawford (Frank), and Robin Hughes (Eddie, Sr.); by her son, David C. Burns; her eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and her many foster children.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Burns was preceded in death by her son, Vester Eugene Burns; and by her grandson, Eddie Dean Hughes, Jr.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked for donation to be made to the MPACT Children’s Program, c/o Crawford Avenue Baptist Church, 507 Crawford Avenue, Augusta, GA, 30904.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening, September 5, 2013 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM.
