MARTINEZ – Mr. Donald Charles Woodhouse, 63, beloved husband of Brenda Woodhouse, entered into rest on Sunday, October 17, 2010 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 22, 2010 at 4:00 PM at Platt’s Belair Road Chapel with the Rev. Dr. J. Andrew Menger officiating. Burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
Mr. Woodhouse, a Texas native, graduated from Austin High School in El Paso in 1964. In 1969, he graduated from Texas Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He worked as a senior engineer for El Paso Natural Gas from 1970 until 1977, when he went to work for EL Paso Marine Company as a senior marine engineer. From 1980 to 1982, he was at E.I. DuPont in La Port, Texas, before being transferred to Wilmington, North Carolina in 1983. In 1986, he went to the Savannah River Site, E.I. DuPont. Westinghouse took over management of the site in 1986, and he continued to work there until his retirement in 2006. Even after retiring, he did contract work for them as well as the Oak Ridge Plant in Tennessee until 2009.
He was a 33rd degree Master Mason and a member of El Paso Fraternity Lodge 1111.
In addition to his wife, Brenda, he is survived by his son, Kevin Woodhouse and wife, Wyndie, of Houston, a daughter, Amanda Woodhouse and her fiancé, Daniel Bishop, of Martinez, his mother, Jane Woodhouse of El Paso, and a sister, Linda Yust and her husband, Dr. Greg Yust of El Paso. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jackson Atterton, Jacob Gustafson, Zacarie Tanner, Abigail Woodhouse and Kolton Woodhouse, as well as his niece and nephew, Lisa Purcell and family and Brian Yust and family.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Gustafson, Zacarie Tanner, Dale Nicosia, Steve Hoang and Gregg Jennings. Honorary pallbearer will be Doug Brown.
If so desired, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2607 Commons Blvd, Augusta, Georgia, 30909.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening, October 21, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
