Mrs. Edith Alice Dortch, passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2018. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 26, 2018, at Platts Funeral Home, Belair Road, with Reverend Bryan Cockrell officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue Memorial Gardens, Grovetown.

Mrs. Dortch was born in Obrien, Florida, and was the daughter of the late Leon Lee and Pansy Lee of Lithia, Florida. She was also predeceased by a sister, Juanita Moore, a brother, James Lee, her husband, MAJ Leonard Dortch a son, Steve Dortch.

As a military wife, Edith had the opportunity to live in many states as well as Germany for 3 years. In Germany, she was President of the Protestant Women of the Chapel, and leader of the Waiting Wives Club for young military wives.
She was a woman of faith who loved her Lord and her family deeply. Over the years, she taught Sunday school for children and adults and sang in the choir. She was also a leader in the nursing home ministry. Edith was a member of the Sanctuary in Evans. Her passion was cooking and she was an excellent cook who enjoyed hosting and entertaining friends and family. She touched many lives and was an inspiration to everyone who met her.

Survivors include a son, Jack Dortch (Val) Rego Park, NY, daughter, Gwen Dortch, Augusta, GA, two sisters, Doris Waddington, Homosassa, Florida, and Dorothy Vick, Braselton, Georgia, three grandchildren, Kelley Kryshtalowych, (Chris) North Augusta, SC, Brian Dortch, (Teresa) Brewster, NY, Ashley Dortch-Barnard (Steve) Long Isand, NY. Five great grandchildren, Sofia, Maya, and Jack Kryshtalowych, Veronica Dortch and Mikayla Dortch.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Brian Dortch, Chris Kryshtalowych, Tim Dortch, Stan Vick, Michael Stalvey, and Ethan Sharp.

The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to the staff of Stevens Park Health and Rehab for the compassionate care and affection they gave our loved one.
