Edna Newsome Hobbs

Mrs. Edna Newsome Hobbs, beloved wife of the late John D. Hobbs, entered into rest on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Platts Funeral Home Belair Road Chapel with the Rev. Philip Hedgecoth officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Hobbs was a member of First Baptist Church of Evans, and the Order of the Eastern Star, Little Mountain, SC. She was retired from DSM Chemicals North America Inc.

She is survived by a daughter, Deborah Sloan-Walker (Gordon), a son, Dennis Hobbs (Lee), a stepdaughter, Phyllis Martin (Randy), son in law, Dr. Allen Sloan (Connie), four grandchildren, David Sloan, Rachel Sloan, Jordan Hobbs and Elizabeth Hobbs, four step grandchildren, Tracie, Jon, Michaela and Elizabeth, and her great grandchildren, Rhett, Camille and Tucker. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Helen Newsome, a brother-in-law, Leonard Johnson as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, John, she was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert and Malinda Newsome, her sisters, Ruby Blackwell and Jean Johnson and her brothers, John, Lewis, Homer, Vernon, Wilber and Lester Newsome.
