Eleanor Tuell Workman, 97, known to many as “Mama Eleanor”, entered into the arms of her beloved Lord Jesus on Sunday, May 29, 2017 at her residence in the presence of loved ones. A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on Friday, June 2, 2017 at 3:00 at Whole Life Ministries with Dr. Sandra G. Kennedy officiating.
Born in Montclair NJ, she was the daughter of the late John and Naomi Tuell. She became a professional gospel singer. One of her greatest joys was to sing and praise the Lord.
Mama Eleanor was an incredible woman of God. Her heart beat with one passion and mission: to give hope and help to the impoverished people of Haiti in the Name of Jesus. At the age of 50, she answered the call of God to lay aside her own ambitions, and dedicate her life to serve the abandoned children of Haiti. Christian Haitian Outreach ministry was established to rescue and care for abandoned babies and children.
Mama’s work expanded to include two orphanages, medical clinics, schools and a church. She mentored hundreds of Pastors to help carry on her work and establish churches throughout Haiti. She raised and educated thousands of children. She is quoted as saying, “My greatest joy is to see these precious children grow up and become vital members of God’s Kingdom.” She traveled singing and speaking in churches to raise money to support CHO.
Eleanor’s work has made an indelible mark on Haiti and continues today.
She spent her last years with her daughter, Dr. Sandra Kennedy and church family. She was lovingly cared for by Teresa Bradshaw and Victoria Palmer.
Mama Eleanor is survived by four nieces: Renee Kee, Francis Merritt, Margot Parramore, Rosetta Johnson. She has many spiritual sons and daughters all over the world including her beloved son, Dr. Franco Jean-Louis.
Memorial contributions may be made to Christian Haitian Outreach, c/o Whole Life Ministries, 2621 Washington Rd., Augusta, GA 30904.
A time of visitation for friends and family will follow the Celebration of Life in the Fellowship Hall of Whole Life Ministries.
A private burial will be held according to Mama Eleanor’s wishes.
