Augusta, GA – Mr. Hazel Grady (Sonny) Boltin went to rest in the Lord, Saturday, October 31, 2009 at the Downtown V A Hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park.
He was born June 18, 1934 in Allendale, SC, but has been a resident of Augusta since 1935. Grady was a 1951 graduate of Richmond Academy and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Social Lodge #1 F&AM. He was very active in the Augusta ARC, and a member of the Lake Park Baptist Church. Grady spent his working life in the auto parts business and retired from NAPA in 1999.
He was predeceased by his wife, Betty Louise Ivey, his sister, Nona Pearl Boltin, his father, Eugene Hazard Boltin and his mother, Pearl Christine Kearse. Grady is survived by his brother, “Bob” James Robert Boltin and wife Billie, residents of Gonzales, LA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Patterson, Daniel Patterson, Rob Boltin, Jay Boltin, Jesse Waguespack, John Gilliam.
Honorary Pallbearer will be James Taylor.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Platt’s Crawford Avenue.
