EVANS – Mrs. Helen McKenney, 77, beloved wife of Joe McKenney, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, January 12, 2012, at Select Specialty Hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Platt’s Belair Road Chapel with the Rev. Rodney Coe officiating. Burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
Mrs. McKenney was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church for over 60 years, and attended the Wilkerson Sunday School Class. She had retired from Westside High School, where she worked in the library and guidance office. “Mema” loved her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.
In addition to her husband, Joe, Mrs. McKenney is survived by her son, Alan McKenney and wife Anne, daughter, Rhonda M. Evans and husband Fred, son Wayne McKenney and wife Tina, grandchildren, Adam McKenney, Jennifer Evans, Emily McKenney Bryant, Brett McKenney, Chris McKenney, brother, Charles Sturdivant, sister, Martha Cooper, and aunt, Agnes Sturdivant.
Pallbearers will be Adam McKenney, Brett McKenney, Chris McKenney, Robbie Bryant, Keith McKenney, Jason Freeman, and Zack Howell.

Mrs. McKenney’s family would like to thank the nurses and doctors from the 2nd floor of Select Specialty Hospital for the kindness and compassion shown to her during her hospitalization.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening, January 13, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
