Columbus, GA - Jessica Elaine Merkel, 30, entered into rest on Thursday, September 7, 2017.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday, September 15, 2017 at Platt’s Funeral Home Belair Rd. Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Survivors include her mother; Frances B. Paschal of Martinez, GA, grandmother; Ann Boatwright of Augusta, GA, brother; William Scott Paschal of Appling, GA, four sisters; Raven Michele Paschal of Charleston, SC, Hillary Sorrells of Martinez, GA, Sidney Johnson (Joseph) of Martinez, GA, Ashley Paschal of Jupiter, FL, nieces; Caitlin Johnson, Adrienne Hughes, nephews; Ryan Johnson, and William Blaise Paschal, and loving aunts and cousins. Jessica was preceded in death by her father, William E. Paschal, Jr., her maternal grandfather; Rolland Boatwright, her paternal grandparents; William and Odell Paschal, and nephew; Jace Sorrells.

Jessica’s exuberant spirit made sure she never met a stranger, and her bubbly personality was one of the many reasons she was loved by so many throughout her life. Jessica’s passion was cooking for friends and family, as she enjoyed food and fellowship while making memories to last a lifetime. She possessed a sense of adventure that carried her to many places to meet people of all walks of life, choosing to keep a few of them close to her heart. She loved deeply and was loved dearly.
