Jewell Bacon Coley

Mrs. Jewell Bacon Coley, beloved wife of 54 years of the late Freddie Coley, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, January 22, 2024, at West Acres Baptist Church with Pastor James Barnes officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening, January 21 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the funeral home, and again on Monday for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens.

Jewell loved her Lord and Savior and was a member of West Acres Baptist Church for over 20 years. She was an active “behind the scenes” servant of the Lord, serving in many ways and not desiring the spotlight or anything in return. Her lifetime job was taking care of her family. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren more than words can describe. Jewell was known by everyone she met as Granny, and each one she loved dearly. When not spending time with family, her favorite past times were fishing, cooking, watching Hallmark movies and shopping at the local Belk or Kohls.

She is survived by her children, David W. Coley (Merrilee) and Janice C. Barnes (Darryl), her grandchildren, Anna B. Ramsey (Taylor), Katelynn C. Moore (Tyler), Mackenzie C. Headley (Josh) and James V. Barnes (Anna), her great grandchildren, Mason Moore, Brody Ramsey and Maddox Moore. She’s also survived by her brothers and sisters, Miriam Smith (Joe), Thomas Bacon, Joe Bacon, Brenda May (Mike), Kenny Bacon, Sissy Blair (Oren) and Mike Bacon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, J.T. and Mattie Bacon, and her siblings, Charlie and Arnold Bacon and Linda Adams.

Pallbearers will be Darryl Barnes, Taylor Ramsey, Tyler Moore, Josh Headley, Oren Blair and Ray Bentley.
