Lloyd David Dixon, 84, of Grovetown, GA, departed this life May 13, 2023, after an illness.
He was the third of eleven children born on November 26, 1938 to Annie M. (McLeod) and David L. Dixon in Hartford, Alabama. In the early 1940s, the resilient family of then 5 moved to New Jersey for more opportunity and eventually grew to a family of thirteen becoming a beacon to the community.
Raised from age five in the Hamilton, N.J. area, Lloyd was known in the neighborhood as “the smart” kid with a little bit of swagger who loved science and history. He was also a talented artist with a special ability to draw people and animals as well as an avid Boy Scout. He graduated from Hamilton High School and served two years in the US Army before obtaining his degree in Chemical Engineering from Delaware State University where he was a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
Throughout his illustrious career at Shell Chemical Company Lloyd held various domestic and international senior management positions that afforded him and his family the opportunity to travel. In addition to his job and family, Lloyd loved to fish, garden, create construction projects, learn and mentor others. Education for all was also important to him. After retirement, he continued to enjoy professional challenges and problem solving as a consultant.
In 1968 Lloyd married Gladys Bailey of Cortland, Virginia in Hamilton, NJ. They were blessed with four daughters, Patryce, Aisha, Shani and Felicia.
His second marriage was in 2002 to Marva Llewellyn Creary (Dixon). They traveled the world, explored the United States and eventually settled in Grovetown, Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his parents David and Annie Dixon, stepmother Eleanor Dixon (Mrs. D.), six siblings: Sara (Williams), Michael, Charles, Ronald, Gail, and Connie (Hines), and nieces and nephews Stephanie, Charles Jr., and George Jr.
Lloyd is survived by his wife Marva in Grovetown, GA, daughters Patryce Moshay (Grady), Aysha, Shani Dixon, Felicia Dixon (Luke) and grandchildren Alana, Clifford, Miles, Isaac as well as siblings Julie Dixon Thomas, George Dixon (Regina), Allison Dixon, Olga Dixon and step sister Joan Johnson, brother-in-law Julian Hines, sisters-in-law Barbara Murray Dixon and Viola Whalen and an Aunt Julia Roseberry McLeod. He is survived by nieces and nephews David Williams (Tracy), Tara Thomas, Ronette Jones, Diana Douglass, Deborah Dixon, Chezare Hines, MacKenzie Dixon, Andre Bauldock, Tisa Brooks (Carneil), Jamilla Walker (Bear), step niece Deborah Johnson, step nephews Michael Johnson, Roy Johnson and family friend Angela Brooks, as well as several grand nieces and nephews and a host of other friends.
Visitation for Lloyd will be held 10 – 11 AM, Saturday, May 27, 2023, with Lloyd’s funeral service at 11 AM in the Chapel of Platt’s Funeral Home, interment to take place immediately following the funeral at Bellevue Memorial Gardens, 4501 Wrightsboro Road, Grovetown, Georgia 30813.

The family of Lloyd wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the “village” of support, prayers by family and friends as well as the staff of Doctor’s Hospital ER, ICU.
