Lloyd H. Hurst

Augusta, GA – Lloyd H. Hurst, 79, beloved husband of Mrs. Carol Tarlton Hurst entered into rest on Wednesday October 15, 2008 at Select Specialty Hospital.

Funeral services with full military honors will be held on Saturday October 18, 2008 at 3:00 PM at Platt’s Funeral Home Crawford Avenue Chapel with the Rev. Gerald Tarlton officiating. Interment to follow in Westover Memorial Park.

Mr. Hurst served his country proudly for twenty years in the United States Army and retired with the rank of Sergeant First Class. Following his retirement from the army Mr. Hurst was employed and retired from Augusta College where he worked in several different departments but mainly serving as the mail carrier. Mr. Hurst’s family will remember him as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

In addition to his loving wife, Mr. Hurst is survived by his two sons, Hugh Hurst and wife Sharon, and Lloyd Hurst, Jr; his daughter, Allison Johnson and husband Bill; his five grandchildren, Curtis Osburn, Robert Osburn, Ryan Wallace, Sheila Halvorson, and Amber Judge; and his two great-grandchildren, Dakota Dixon and Preston Grant.

Mr. Hurst was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Osburn; and his brother, Hugh William Hurst; his half brothers, Woodrow and John Ricker; and his half sister, Faye Ricker Tarlton.
