Luis Mejias

SFC Luis Mejias, (US Army RET), died on February 6, 2021 at his residence at the age of 96.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Platts Belair Road Chapel with Dr. Brad Whitt officiating. The family will receive friends prior, from 9:00 until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Mejias was born on May 16, 1924 in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. He faithfully served this country in the US Army for over twenty years before retiring with the rank of Sergeant First Class. His military service included tours in Korea and Vietnam. After the army, he went to work in the automotive department at Sears before retiring in 2004. His passions were his family, gardening, and cars.
He is survived by his children, Jorge Luis Mejias (June) and Millie Mejias Moore (Frank), his grandchildren, Gavin Guilfoyle (Cori), Annette Fennell (Scott), Travis Mejias (Kira), Taylor Mejias (Rebecca), Teresa Mejias and Amanda Kelly, and his great grandchildren, Tyler, John Scott, Gabe, Gavin Jr., Gionna, Savannah, Kaden, Austin, Jacob, Carson, Mariah and Tristan. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 45 years, Generosa Mejias Roman.
