Mary Ann Mell Baggs, 94, entered into rest on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at her residence.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Westover Memorial Park with Dr. Matt Rich officiating.
Mary Ann was born in Augusta, GA to the late Charles Irwin Mell, Jr. and the late Louise Morris May Mell. She was very proud to be a member of one of the oldest families in Augusta and was a lifelong member of Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church. Mary Ann served during World War II with the WAC division of the US Army. She went on to graduate from Augusta State University with a BA degree. While at Augusta State she received the Cranford Award and was named to the Who’s Who Among America’s Universities. Mary Ann also graduated from UGA with a MED Degree. She worked with the Girl Scouts and then with State of Georgia Department of Human Resources as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor. Mary Ann was also a well-known artist.
Mary Ann is survived by her son, Charles Mell Baggs (Joy Fredericks); her grandchildren, Lisa Kay Baggs, John Randall Baggs, II (Anna Cox Baggs), and Jason D. Willing; and by her great-grandchildren, Ellyn Olivia Baggs, and Duffy, Gibson, and Miles Willing. She was preceded in death by her son, John Randall Baggs.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, September 6, 2017 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
