Evans, GA – Mr. Nelson Bruce Wright, Sr., 89, of Evans, GA went to be with the Lord and joined his beloved wife of 55 years Ruby on Christmas Day.
A memorial service will take place at a later date in Philadelphia, PA.
Nelson was born and lived most of his life in the Philadelphia, PA area. He had most recently lived in Ventnor, NJ, before moving to Evans, GA this year. He graduated from Girard College in Philadelphia, PA. Nelson served on the USS Shenandoah in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a Machinist Mate 3. He retired from the E.G. Budd Company after 42 years as a tool and die maker producing items for the auto and rail industries. Nelson was a member of Friendship-Williams Lodge #400, F. & A.M., Jenkintown, PA, and the Red Lion Square Club, Philadelphia, PA. He was a Baptist, formerly attending the Third Baptist Church of Germantown, PA. He was a member of The Way of Life, A/G Church where his son, Stephen, is pastor. Since moving to Georgia, he had attended Warren Baptist Church.
Survivors include his two sons: Colonel Nelson Bruce Wright, Jr. (Maureen) of Evans, Reverend Stephen Jon Wright (Dianne) of Ventnor, NJ, one sister: Marion V. Wood of Tacoma, WA, grandsons: Brian Wright (Karen) of Charlotte, NC, Christopher Wright (Danna) of Clayton, GA, granddaughters: Wendi Birney (Jim) of Medford, NJ, Stephanne Gentlesk (Phil) of San Antonio, TX, and Heather Wright of Brevard, NC, great grandchildren: Reagan, Noah, and Walker Wright; Keri and Brandon Wroblewski; Gemma, Dominic, Phebe, and Jiovanni Gentlesk.
