Richard Joplin, age 75 entered into rest on Saturday, July 3, 2021. He was the beloved husband for 54 years to the late Mary Jane Joplin.
A military brat, Richard was born in Escambia County, Florida to the late Eugene Oliver Joplin and Betty Ann Smith Joplin. He served for 37 years as a lineman for Georgia Power. Richard was a devoted member of Westside Baptist Church where he will be remembered for his pockets of peppermints and Werther’s Originals. Richard had an infectious personality and he never met a stranger.
He is survived by his two children, Natalie Joplin of Martinez and Rick Joplin (Sue) of Cumming; and three granddaughters, Marisa Joplin, Sophia Joplin, and Isabella Joplin.
The family will receive friends from 10-11:30 A.M. on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Platt’s Belair Road. A graveside service will follow at 12 noon in Bellevue Memorial Gardens with Pastor Robert Lehn officiating.
Richard loved the children and teens of Westside Baptist Church and he was dedicated to assisting their families with the cost of attending camp. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Wilds Camp Scholarship Fund at WBC, 261 Flowing Wells Road, Martinez, Georgia 30907.
