Covington, GA – Richard Arthur Swift, 24, entered into rest on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Atlanta Medical Center in Atlanta, GA.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at Platt’s Funeral Home Belair Rd. chapel with Rev. Philip Vestal officiating.

Richard was a 2005 graduate of Evans High School and a 2007 graduate of DeKalb Technical College where he became a motorcycle technician. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, working on motorcycles, and was a general motorcycle enthusiast. Richard was a loving son and a friend to everyone. Richard loved dearly his fiancé, Melissa Willingham, his family, and his friends. When Richard loved, he loved from the bottom of his heart, totally and completely. He was loved in turn by many. All of us will miss his good nature, jokes, patience, helpfulness, and kind consideration. Richard will forever be in our thoughts and in our hearts.

Survivors include his mother, Brenda A. Heidman and husband Robert of Grovetown, GA, his father, Arthur J. Swift and wife Jennifer of Harlem, GA, his fiancé, Melissa Willingham of Covington, GA, five brothers, Daniel Michael Swift, Matthew Swift, Christopher Heidman, Jesse Given, Alex Lespinasse, one sister, Leslie N. Johnson, maternal grandmother, Jilma Lester (Abuela) of Queens, NY, paternal grandmother, Grace H. Swift of Calverton, NY, grandparents, John and Jan Heidman of Grovetown, GA, uncles, Rick Lester and wife Sara, Rudy Lester and wife Delia both of Queens, NY, aunt, Debra Swift of Long Island, NY, cousins, Charles Lester, Paul Lester, James Lester, Matt Lester, and Luke Lester, and his fiancés parents, Bill and Penny Willingham of Conyers, GA.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Fink, Dave Leonard, Daniel Swift, Matthew Swift, and Chris Heidman.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until service time on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at the funeral home.
