Stewart T. Canady, Sr., beloved husband of Elaine Canady, entered into rest,
Monday, November 16, 2020 at his residence.
Funeral services: 12:00 PM on Saturday, November 21, 2020, Platt’s Belair Road Chapel with Apostle Leroy Simmons Officiating. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens.
Stewart Tracey Canady Sr. was born to the late Catherine Bailey Hudson and Theodore Robert Canady, July 16, 1951, Nash County, North Carolina.
Stewart, like several of his siblings received his education from elementary through college in Norfolk, Virginia, Tidewater education system. He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School, 1969, and attended Norfolk State University where he earned his Bachelor’s in Business Administration Degree, 1973. As a student and teenager, Stewart participated in a variety of sport activities, clubs, and associations. Shortly after graduating from college, Stewart worked for multiple corporations, companies, and contractors before joining the United States Army’s Signal Corps, January 1986.
During Stewart’s tenure in the U. S. Army, he served our country honorably within the borders of the United States and Globally. He served meritoriously for Commands like Fort Jackson, SC, Fort Campbell, KY, Fort Hood, TX, Fort Gordon, GA, and the Federal Republic of Germany, U. S. Territories. For his Service to our Country, he received various awards, such as, the Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Commendation Medal, Oversea Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal, and the Southwest Asia Services Medal with 3-Bronz Stars.
Stewart and Elaine (Wilson) married in 1999 and celebrated their union for 21 years. Elaine joined Stewart in fulfilling his military services to our country, travelling together to multiple military installations. After 18 dedicated years of military service for our country, Stewart and Elaine Canady culminating Stewart’s military career at Fort Gordon, GA, retiring September 2004.
Stewart’s devotion to personal and professional development inspired him to pursue and earn his Master’s in Human Resources with Troy State University, 2005. He also accomplished much of his Doctoral Course Work with Capella University before taking ill. He had a true affinity for family, politics, and Old Western Cowboy Shows.
Stewart is survived by his wife Elaine, his son, Stewart T Canady Jr., step-daughter, Samantha Rolland, step-grandchildren, Omarion and Bellamarie Rolland, his brother Winston R. Canady (Alethea); and his aunt, Earline B. Sinclair. He is also survived by three (3) half-siblings – Dianna Canady, Jackie Canady Dixon, and Patrice Canady McHarris. He also leaves four (4) nephews and nieces – Tramell Canady, Angie Canady, Delwin R. Canady, Colony C. Canady, and countless cousins, in-laws, and friends.
Stewart is predeceased by his parents, Catherine Bailey Hudson and Theodore Canady, his brother Rudolph, and sisters, Veronica and Silvia Canady.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening, November 20, 2020 from 4:00 until 9:00.
