Augusta, GA. - Mr. William “Bill” D. Caldwell, Jr., 84, entered into rest on Saturday, October 25, 2008 at Eisenhower Medical Center surrounded by his loved ones.
Bill was the son of the late William D. Caldwell, Sr., and Ruby Johnson Caldwell. He was born and raised in Elbert County, Georgia, but had resided in the Martinez area for more than 50 years. Bill was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He retired from the CSX Railroad as a roadway mechanic, and also from the US Naval Reserves as Petty Officer.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Moore Caldwell, two daughters, Anita (David) Plue of Appling and Anne (Doyle) Walls of Augusta, a step son, Clark (Chris) Morris of Orlando, FL., and five grandchildren, Jeremy Plue of Martinez, Anna Plue of Appling, and Cierra, Haley and Turner Morris of Orlando, FL.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Mr. Caldwell’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN., 38105 or to the Georgia War Veteran’s Home, 1101 15th Street, Augusta, Georgia, 30901.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening, October 27, 2008 from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
