Zelda N. Kuhn

Augusta, GA---Mrs. Zelda Newsome Kuhn, 88, entered into rest on Saturday, December 20, 2008, at Augusta Gardens Assisted Living and Retirement Community.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at 2:00 pm, at St. Mark United Methodist Church, 2367 Washington Road with Dr. Dane Wagner
officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park.

Mrs. Kuhn was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was born in Darlington, SC, but grew up and attended school in Hartsville, SC. She also attended Winthrop College. She had been a resident, of Augusta, for over 60 years and retired from the Richmond County Health Department, after 30 years service.

Mrs. Kuhn was preceded in death by her parents, Jake and Jennie Newsome, two brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, James E. Kuhn, of Augusta, son, Tom Staton and wife, Kathy, of Augusta, daughters, Jenny Ford and husband, Pat, of Martinez, GA, and Bev Wakeley and husband, Richard, of Jacksonville, FL, grandchildren, Ashley Piquette, John Staton, Jr., Brad Staton, Melanie Cundey, Patrick Ford, Jr., Steve Wakeley, Travis Wakeley, Kevin Wakeley and thirteen great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends today, Monday, December 22, 2008 at Platt’s Funeral Home Crawford Avenue, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
