Alfred Montague Miller ,age 81, passed peacefully on November 13, 2021 at his residence in Evans, Georgia. He is preceded in his death by his mother and father, MayBelle Power Miller and Dessie Ford Miller Jr., his brother, Dessie Ford Miller, III, and his son William Montague Miller.

Affectionately known as Mont, Mr. Miller graduated from Richmond Academy in 1957, and was a member of the 1956 Georgia State Championship football team and the 1957 Georgia State Championship track team. He was the Georgia state champion in the 100 and 220 yard dash, and the All-Class and the Georgia-Alabama 100 yard dash champion.

He received his B.B.A. and Juris Doctor degrees from the University of Georgia, in Athens, Georgia, and was a member of the "G" Club, having lettered in track. He taught economics at the University of Georgia in Athens and business law at Augusta University in Augusta. He was a member of Chi Phi Fraternity, where he served as President.

Following his graduation, Mr. Miller practiced law in Augusta for over 28 years before leaving the firm that he helped establish to become President and Chief Executive Officer of Club Car, Inc. After his retirement from Club Car in 2001, Mr. Miller returned to the practice of law on a limited basis.

He was a member of the Augusta Bar Association, the State Bar of Georgia, the Defense Research Institute, the International Association of Defense Council and a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers and the Georgia Bar foundation. He was a director of Georgia-Carolina BancShares Inc., the First Bank of Georgia, and Bartram Trial CDC, Inc.

Mr. Miller was a long-standing member of Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church where he was an ordained elder. He is survived by his wife Peggy Mays Miller, and his son Stephen Mathews Miller, numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mont was a lifelong lover of the outdoors and animals especially dogs. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests you adopt a dog in need from your local shelter or donate to the animal charity of your choice.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
