Amory D. Parker, Jr., 95, beloved husband of the late Catherine Budd Parker, entered into rest on January 7, 2021.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Platt’s Belair Road Chapel. Interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Mr. Parker served our country for over twenty years in the United States Coast Guard and the United States Army. He served over three years in the Coast Guard as a Seaman and Quartermaster Third Class during World War II and over sixteen years in the United States Army, retiring in 1964.During his time in the Army, he served in the Signal Corps as a Military Photographer. He also served in the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post 192. Following his military career, Mr. Parker worked as a photographer with Disney Studios in California until his retirement.
Mr. Parker is survived by his son, Amory Parker, III of Grovetown, GA; his daughters, Jackie Wilder (Doug) of Grovetown, GA, Katie Ings (Fred) of Thomson, GA, and Debbi Steffen of Lancaster, CA; his grandchildren, Briana Alley (Kevin), Devin Wilder, Ryan Parker (Lyndyn), Ronald “Buddy” Ratliff, and Christian Ray; his great-grandchildren, Calista, Alexander and Angelina Alley; his grandson-in-law, Douglas Wilder (Denise) and great granddaughters in law, Claire and Izy Wilder.
