Anne Gamble Carswell

Mrs. Anne Gamble Carswell, 89, of Augusta entered into rest on Tuesday, August 18, at her residence. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Joseph Carswell, Jr. and her son Thomas Gamble Carswell.

Mrs. Carswell was born in Savannah, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Weldon Gamble and the late Emily Quarterman Gamble. She lived most of her life in Augusta.

She is survived by two sons, James Joseph Carswell III and his wife Julie of North Augusta, South Carolina and Joseph Stulb Carswell and his wife Laotha of Augusta..

She is also survived by five grandchildren, James Carswell IV and his wife Tracy of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, Mary Anne Franklin and her husband John of Augusta, McNeill Strang and her husband Andrew of Augusta, Lisa Presnell and her husband Tripp of Beaufort, South Carolina , Joseph Carswell and his wife Leanna of Augusta and nine great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Augusta 20 at 11:00 am at Westover Memorial Park with The Very Reverend Robert D. Fain officiating.
