Evans, GA – Betty Glover Pappas, 88, loving wife of the late James Peter Pappas, entered into rest on Monday, June 27, 2016.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 1, 2016 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church with Father Vasile Bitere officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
Betty was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, where she taught Sunday school, was President of Philoptochos, and served in various ministries within the church. She retired from Ft. Gordon where she was the Personnel Director. Throughout her career in Civil Service, she was the recipient of numerous awards. Betty loved spending time with her family. She was known for instilling Greek traditions and Southern etiquette. Betty also enjoyed traveling, shopping, cooking, and playing cards with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter; Margaret Pappas Colvin and husband Roy of Evans, GA, son; Dr. Peter James Pappas and wife Anissa of Lander, WY, two sisters; Louise Glover of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Alstyne Glover Bowman of Spartanburg, SC, six grandchildren; Gregory Wayne Colvin (Teresa), Michelle Pappas Ennis (Larry), James Robert Colvin (Jodi), Pamela Pappas Davison (Tony), Michael Charles Colvin (Heather), James Peter Pappas, 10 great grandchildren; Jessica Colvin Sroda (Jacob), Alexander James Colvin, Ashley Irene Duncan, Anna Nichole Colvin, Abram Chandler Duncan, Lauren Felice Colvin, Rachael LeAnn Colvin, Addison Christine Colvin, Katherine Doris Ennis, Caroline Michelle Ennis, four step-great grandchildren; Haley Austing Johnson, Payton Reynolds Johnson, Andrew Partridge “Ridge” Johnson, and James Collin Davison. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers; O’Neal Glover, Martin Glover, James Glover, Sr., Ryan Glover, and sister; Joanne Glover Wynn.
Pallbearers will be Gregory Colvin, Jimmy Colvin, Michael Colvin, Alex Colvin, James Pappas, Chandler Duncan, and Jacob Sroda. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Bowman, Tim Love, Rick Smith, Dennis Gowan, Larry Ennis, and Tony Davison.
A Trisagion prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Platt’s Funeral Home Belair Rd. Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following until 9:00 PM.
