Betty Powell Kirchheim

Betty Powell Kirchheim passed away Monday, October 9, 2023 at her home in Aiken, SC.

Betty was born in Augusta, GA to Sumpter and Sarah Powell on July 20, 1954.

Prior to her retirement in early 2023, she worked for Aiken Glass Fibers and Yarn for eighteen years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching movies and crafting.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents and sisters; Caroline Rachael Powell and Avaland Powell. 

She is survived by her children, Caroline Lisa Hutcherson (Wesley Snellings) of Aiken, SC and Sumpter Stephen Newman (Maxie) of Altoona, AL, her grandchildren Cameron Hutcherson (Evans, GA), Kyler Hutcherson (Blythe, GA), Dalton Newman (CA), Heavenleigh Newman, Layla Newman, Emery Ann Newman and Eli Newman, (all of Altoona, AL).

Visitation will be Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with funeral services to follow in the chapel at Platt’s Funeral Home, 337 North Belair Road, Evans, GA.
