Charles Alan Schafer

Mr. Charles Alan Schafer was entered into rest on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Pepper Hill Rehab and Healthcare.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 8, 2024 at Westover Memorial Park with the Rev. Larry Johnson officiating. 

Mr. Schafer was born in 1939 in Greeleyville, South Carolina to Charles and Elizabeth Schafer. The family moved to Augusta, where he graduated from Richmond Academy in 1957. He taught school and coached in Fulton County, before attending the University of Georgia and earning a Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences. 

He was an avid golfer and had exceled at Professional Putt-Putt. He was also an artist, with his paintings and artwork winning blue ribbons and being shown in local galleries. 

He is survived by his siblings, Barbara Schafer Teachey, Lisa Schafer Yocco and James Victor Schafer (Ginny) and his nieces and nephews, Sydney, Robert, Tara, Todd, Rachel, Laura, Adam, Lynn, Christopher and Jonathan. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, Samuel Robert Schafer and Jonathan Heller Schafer.
