Clarinda Nell Duncan, age 61 of Augusta, Georgia (formerly of Lawrenceville, GA), daughter of Cammie Sammon Martin (deceased), born March 3, 1954, died November 23, 2015. Rinda was born with Down's Syndrome and died from complications due to Alzheimer's Disease.
Thanks to her mother Cammie, Serenity Behavioral Health, Georgia TASC, and family and friends, Rinda lived a very happy life. Many caregivers and supervisors like Annie Rouse, Diane Murphy, Angela Dunbar, Vivian Hambrick, Teresa McGaughey, and Melinda McCary helped make this happy life possible over the years.
Even after Rinda was confined to hospitals and nursing homes this last year, people whose lives she touched continued to follow up on her care, including on her last day. She was very fortunate to have two loving and understanding roommates at her Serenity home in Augusta. They are Jenny Durden and Waltina Sims. She loved them and her caregivers and they brightened each other's lives for many years.
Rinda enjoyed getting out and going. She loved to going to church, eating out, having a Diet Coke, shopping, singing, listening to music, swimming, and working at Georgia TASC. She made friends easily and her smile was contagious. She enjoyed spending holidays on the farm in Blue Ridge, with the Nortons in Lawrenceville, or with Annie's family in Augusta.
Rinda always gave more joy than she received. Her life was a special gift to all who knew her. The simplest things in life were the most important to her and she focused on them with a pure heart. Her message was to live, love, and appreciate everything and every everyone that is around us.
Rinda's earthly remains will be interred in the F. Q. Sammon Sr. family plot at Shadowlawn Cemetery in Lawrenceville, Georgia at a private graveside service. Cammie and Rinda had an incredible love for each other that sustained them in life and they are now enjoying a happy reunion that will last an eternity
