Mr. Claude McCord, beloved husband of Julia, entered into rest on Monday, November 11, 2024 at Doctors Hospital Augusta.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Platt’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Darrell Blocker officiating. Burial will follow at Macedonia Baptist Church. A repast will be held in the church reception hall after the services. 

Claude was born in Appling, Georgia to David McCord Sr, and his wife, the former Beatrice Tankersley. At an early age he was baptized at Macedonia Baptist Church. He attended regularly and was a member of the male choir. 

He was lovable, cheerful, and dedicated to his family. He loved watching wrestling, dancing, racing cars, and playing the lottery. He enjoyed spending most of his life specializing in concrete finishing and teaching others the trade. He looked forward to every chance he got to spend with family, especially holidays and eating cake and ice cream for birthdays.

In addition to his wife, Julia, he is survived by his children, Cynthia Walker (Gregory), Claudia Williams (Prince), Timothy McCord (Deldra), Lisa Harrison (Randy) and Tabitha Madison (Christopher), and his sisters, Beatrice McCord, Daisy McCord, Juanita McCord and Mary Etta McCord. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Latoya Stevens (Robert), Timothy McCord Jr., Gabriel Jose Taylor, Tiffany Arnold (Michael), Tykeem Scott, Tiera Williams, Michael Scott, Nicholas Walker, Ashley Harrison, Auranis Fallin, Tyree McCord, Tenisha Johnson, Phioses Fallin, Skyla Fallin, Randal Harrison and Natalya Fallin, in addition to his devoted nephew, Curtis Hammonds Jr., his special great grandchild, Khloe Stevens, and a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Cluese, Robert and David McCord and his sisters, Annie Mae Hillman, Allean McCord and Dorothy Hester.

Pallbearers will be Curtis Hammonds Jr., Michael Hammonds, Eugene McCord, Isaiah McCord, Corey Harps, Milo McCord, and Dashawn McCord.
