Donald Rene Hare, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away at his home in Martinez, GA on May 17, 2024. Born on April 20, 1943, at University Hospital in Augusta, GA. Donald led a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication.
After joining the Air Force in 1961, he served honorably for four years and an additional two years in the Reserves. Following his military service, Don had a career that included working in Civil Service, Fine Candy Products, and he spent over 50 yrs of his life in the flooring business. His last 40+ years with The Carpet Shop/Merit Flooring. Don was always full of humor, generous, and a mentor to his colleagues, family and friends. He had a unique talent for entertaining those around him with his masterful story telling, always bringing laughter to every situation..
In his personal life Don was committed to his family. Bringing the same humor and mentoring home. He had a deep appreciation for music and possessed a beautiful baritone voice. Don found solace in playing golf every week with his buddies. It was a passion that brought him joy and relaxation. Don touched the lives of many with his kindness and wisdom. His memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Memorial Service to honor and celebrate the life of Donald Rene Hare will be held on May 28, 2024, at Stevens Creek Church in Martinez. The service will begin at 3:00 PM and conclude at 4:00 PM. Visitation to follow immediately after the service.
Donald is survived by his spouse Annette Berger Hare; daughter Dawnn Renee (James) Stachowiak; step-daughter Mischelle (Glen) Cook; sisters Elaine (George) Intracaso and Patricia (Pete) Godwin; sister-in-law Sarah Hare; son-in-law Dwayne Schultz; numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents Sam Rene & Martha Ellie Hare; brother Michael Hare; step-daughters Veronica "Roni" Bailey and Jessica Rae Schultz; and his wife Billye Jean Stone Hare.
Honorary pallbearers are: Jimmy Cooper, Cory Daniels, Royce English, George Gibbons, Daniel Holloway, William Holloway, Jack Holloway, Jerry Kirkland, John Penrow, and Brian Slusser.
In his honor, let us remember Don for the joy he brought into our lives and the lasting impact he made on all who knew him. May he rest in peace knowing he was loved deeply and will be profoundly missed.
