It is with profound sadness that we announce the loss of our beloved Mother and Memaw. Dortha Marie “Dottie” Ford peacefully passed at the age of 89 to her Heavenly home on March 18, 2025, at home surrounded by loved ones in Evans, GA.
Dortha was born in Adamsville, TN on October 14, 1935, to Ethel and Thelma Clark. She was a long-time resident of Bartlett, TN prior to moving to Augusta, GA two years ago. Dortha was a graduate of Bartlett High School in 1954 and was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church in Cordova, TN for over 30 years where she enjoyed gatherings with her small group. Outside of her relationship with the Lord, Dortha’s greatest treasure in life was her family. She will be remembered for her solid faith, tenacious spirit, kindness, thoughtful generosity, and unwavering love for her family. Some of her favorite things were cooking at her home on Northampton for anyone who needed a meal or a slice of her homemade pies, the beach, and lake trips with her extended family, fishing with her brother Don, nurturing her grandbabies, Bartlett High School class reunions, planting marigolds and other flowers, and reading books especially the Bible. Dortha made sure no one would go without even if it meant that she did, as she was a beloved caretaker to all.
Dortha was preceded in death by her father and mother, Ethel Ellis Clark and Thelma Pyron Clark, her four younger siblings, sister Margaret LouDean Sanders and three brothers Max Clark, Jimmy Clark, and Donald Clark; and grandson Mitchell Ford, Jr.
Dortha is survived by her four sons, her hearts, Mark Graham (Glenda) of Heber Springs, AR, Stanley Graham (Donna) of Evans, GA, Wesley Graham (Kim) of Evans, GA, and Mitchell Ford of Memphis, TN. She was a loving Memaw to all her 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and one great, great grandson. She is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Barbara Clark, Linda Clark, and Brenda Clark, one brother-in-law, Eugene Sanders, and a host of nieces and nephews. Her wonderful legacy will live on through all the love she offered to her family.
Friends and family are invited to the visitation on March 22, 2025, at 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. The family will have a private graveside service afterwards. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations can be made in memory of Ms. Dortha Marie Ford to St. Jude Children’s Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/donate) for her love of all the little children or a charity of the donor’s choice.
“But those who trust in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
