Earl C. "E.C." Helmly

The Lord has called another angel home. Earl C. Helmly, Jr. passed away at home on February 6, 2021.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel. Interment to follow at Westover Memorial Park.

Mr. Helmly is survived by his wife, Mary Lou S. Helmly; his sons, Mike Helmly (Barbara “Babs” Helmly) and Mark Helmly; his “fur baby”, Samson; brother, Danny Helmly (Angie); close family friends, Duffy and Beth Heath; and by his godchildren and grandchildren, Anastasia and Catherine Heath. He will be missed by family and many friends.

Earl was a life-long resident of Augusta, GA. He graduated from Richmond Academy and attended Augusta College. Earl was the owner of Augusta Automotive Distributors, Inc. He honorably served in the Army during the Korean War. Earl was an avid golfer and loved his church. He was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Chancel Choir and past president of the Men’s Club.

Those planning on attending services will be asked to wear masks or face coverings and social distancing will be practiced.
