Entered into rest on Friday, August 11, 2017, Mrs. Florence B. Carter, 78, beloved wife of Curtis H. Carter, Jr. of Augusta, GA.
Mrs. Carter was a native of Augusta and was a member of the ARC Class of 1956 and a graduate of Armstrong State University in Savannah. She married Mr. Carter in September of 1958. The couple lived on the Georgia and South Caroline Coasts for 40 years and she taught in Savannah schools and, later in Glynn County Schools. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, honorary teacher’s sorority and was a member of the Fidelis Kappa Chapter. She was also a member of Trinity on the Hill Methodist Church.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include children, Mary Beth Carter of Atlanta, Curtis H. Carter, III of Augusta; grandchildren, Ashley Lynn Stalvey of Athens; Elizabeth B. Schmidt (Joshua) of Atlanta; Katie Carter Davis (Zach) of Burnswick; Savannah Carter of Loganville; Will Brewer of Panama City, Florida; stepmother-in-law and friend Alice D. Carter of Augusta; sister-in-law, Mary E. Carter and Sara M. Carter of Augusta; brothers-in-law Dr. Michael P. Carter and wife Susan of Savannah; and King R. Carter and wife Barbara of Charlotte, NC; and four great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held in the Walker Family Cemetery on Arsenal Avenue at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 14, 2017 with Reverend Greg Hatfield officiating. The family will visit with friends at the graveside after the service.
