Franklin Cail Mr. Godbee, Sr.

Martinez, - Mr. Franklin Cail Godbee, Sr., 76, of Martinez, entered into rest with his Lord, on Sunday, February 2, 2014.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 7, 2104 at Platt’s Belair Road Chapel with the Rev. Tim Boyer, Pastor Brian Cockrell, and Pastor Floyd McComb officiating. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Godbee, a lifelong resident of Martinez, was born in Sylvania, Georgia. He joined the Army in which he served his country proudly for over 20 years, and was in Vietnam, during the war. He will receive full military honors. He loved fishing, hunting and camping. He enjoyed his spring and fall garden and taking care of his summer flowers. His kind and gentle spirit led many to the Lord and was always
there to help others. Everyone who knew him knew how hard he worked and how much he loved his family.

Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Mary Godbee, two daughters, Dianne Cooley (Bob) and Tammy Andrews (William), his son, Frankie Godbee (Sylvia), a brother, G.W. Godbee, eleven grandchildren and eighteen great grandschildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Gwenie Lopez.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Godbee, Danny Godbee, Bill Evans, Carl Berry, Danny Smith and Ronnie Harrison.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening, February 6, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
