George J.C. Sands

Augusta, GA – Mr. George Jacob Charles Sands, 22, loving husband of Crystal Cornine Sands entered into rest on May 10, 2014.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel in Augusta. Interment with military honors will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

George was born in St. Mary’s, GA and graduated from Camden County High School. He was a member of the United States Navy for 4 years earning his IDW (Information Dominance Warfare) Pin while doing his best to lead others. George and Crystal were married on July 27, 2013. He was a hardworking man with an upbeat personality. George loved travelling, spending time with family, fishing, hunting, practicing on the range, and eating fondue.

In addition to his wife, George is survived by his father, Brian and Tonya Sands of Duncannon, PA and his mother Sonia Lawrence of Waycross, GA; his sisters, Elizabeth Sands of St. Mary’s, GA and Barbara Sands of Sacramento, CA; his mother and father-in-law, Marlene and Larry Bradford of Greensboro, NC and Raymond and Ruth Cornine, Jr. of Cape Coral, FL; his maternal grandparents, George and Mary Gerlach of St. Mary’s, GA; his paternal grandmother, Melveeta and Bill Carpenter of Duncannon, PA; and by his nieces and nephews, Emma, Abby, and Joel Cornine and Thomas Sands.

The family will receive friends at Platt’s Belair Road Chapel in Evans on Friday evening, May 16, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
