Mr. Hays H. Jensen, 89, passed away in his sleep in the early morning of Friday, April 18, 2014, at his home in Evans, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Platt’s Belair Road Chapel with Pastor William F. Harrell officiating. Burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
Mr. Jensen was born on March 28, 1925 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Fred Jensen and Mildred Sherbook Hamilton. Having enlisted in the United States Army at age 18 in 1943, he served with the 1268th Engineers Combat Battalion in the Battle of the Bulge, as well as in every theater of World War II, including the American, European, African, Middle East and Asian Pacific theaters until 1946. He later entered the Korean War as a First Lieutenant and served as Company Commander until October of 1952.
He was an active member of Abilene Baptist Church, where his participation will be missed.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jennie Stovall Jensen, his children, Fred Jensen of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, Marjorie Gugerty of Aurora, Illinois, Karen Smith of Rockford, Illinois, and Charles Jensen of Rockford, Illinois, whom he had with his first wife, Hedwig Ball Jenson. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Danny Stovall (Bobbie) of Iva, S.C., Debbie Stovall Murrell (Marlon) of Auburn, Alabama, Jeff Stovall (Pam) of Knoxville, Tennessee, Tim Stovall (Teresa) of Grovetown, Georgia, and Lindy Stovall (Amy) of Gainsville, Georgia, as well as 22 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
