Augusta, GA---Mr. Jack W. Huffman, 75, husband of 37 years, to Linda McGee Huffman, entered into rest on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at University Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm tomorrow Friday, October 15, 2010 at Christ Episcopal Church, 1900 Greene Street with The Reverend Kenneth G. Rowland officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park.
Jack was a native and lifelong resident of Augusta, Georgia. He was a lifelong member of Christ Episcopal Church, where he served on the vestry, served as treasurer and enjoyed many years in the choir. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves and retired from Johnson Controls.
Jack was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. He was affectionately known as “Papa Jack”. He enjoyed camping, dancing, baking fruit cakes, his church and spending time with his family.
Mr. Huffman was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Lee and Ruby Huffman, brothers, Harvey Huffman, James Huffman and sister, Fannie Mae Gay.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his children, Carol Daniel, Talking Rock, GA, Suzanne Smith (John), North Augusta, SC, Terry Hapstack (Mark), Greenville, SC, Pam Harris, North Augusta, SC, Marisa Powell (James), Grovetown, GA, Tiffany Mosely, Augusta, GA and Robert Adams, fifteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren, brothers, Johnnie Huffman, Stanley Huffman (Brenda), sisters, Dot Holden, Naomi Dunn (Charles), and Connie Holsonbake, all of Augusta.
The family will receive friends this evening Thursday, October 14, 2010, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at Platt’s Crawford Avenue.
Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
