James Thomas Kennedy Sr.

Mr. James Thomas Kennedy Sr. (Tommy) entered into rest on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at Doctor Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 3:30 on Sunday afternoon, March 9, 2025, in the Evans chapel of Platts Funeral Home. The family will greet friends for 30 minutes prior to the service.

Tommy was born in Wilkes County, Georgia to Boyce Kennedy and Earlene Davis Kennedy. As a child, he played at the foot of Little Mountain in Lincoln County, and those childhood experiences led to his love of nature and the outdoors. He loved to fish and spent many hours outside, doing yard work and tinkering around the house.

 His family was the most important thing in his life. He dearly loved and was proud of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. His compassion and sincerity added to his humbleness, and he lived a life of Christian values.

He is survived by his children, Stephanie Faircloth (Ronald), Jay Kennedy, Marissa Kennedy and Laura Kennedy, his grandchildren, Paige Glover (Phillip), Tyler Faircloth (Jillian), Amanda Christy (Jacob), Mehlani Kennedy and Amelia Kennedy and his great grandchildren, Ryan, Anna, Charlotte, Mayson and Jackson. He is also survived his brother, B.C. Kennedy (Debra) and his sisters, Cheryl Edwards (Gene) and Rosie Harrison. He was preceded in death by his parents, Boyce and Earlene and his dear friend and ex-wife, Christina Kennedy.
