James Walker Penland, Sr.

James Walker Penland, Sr., 92, of Augusta, went home to be with his Lord and Savior after a lengthy illness on November 30, 2024.

 Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at Westover Memorial Park with Pastor Floyd Harrison officiating.

 Walker was a long-standing member of Woodlawn Baptist Church and enjoyed the fellowship with his Sunday School class. He enjoyed 50 plus year sales career with Weinberger Furniture. Walker will always be remembered for his kindness, generosity, compassion, and love for others. Most importantly he deeply loved his Lord Jesus and his family. We rejoice he is with his heavenly Father and look forward to a wonderful reunion.

 Walker is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Venice Penland; son, James W. Penland, Jr.; daughters, Karen Penland and Susan Penland Akins; granddaughter, Melissa Akins; great-grandson, Layne Akins; special cousin, Louann Penland.

 The family will receive friends at Platt’s Funeral Home on Crawford Avenue on Tuesday evening, December 3, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM
