James Wayne Adams

Mr. James Wayne Adams, beloved husband of Mary Nell Adams, entered into rest on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 24, 2024 in the chapel of Platts Belair Road with the Rev. Mark Maund officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Adams was born in Bowdon, Georgia to Arthur and Sallie Adams. He joined the army as a young man and was sent to Korea. He was wounded in action and awarded a Purple Heart. He returned home and attended Georgia State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He retired from University Hospital as the collections department manager. He’ll be remembered as a devoted husband, and loving father, grandfather and great grandfather.

In addition to his wife, Mary Nell, he is survived by his children, Trudy Hopkins, Terri Adams Crosby (Rick), and Sallie Godfrey. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. A daughter, Tracy Crosby, and a grandson, Brian Hopkins, preceded him in death.
