Janita Kay DeAsis, of Evans, Georgia, closed her beautiful chapter of life on Wednesday, January 29, 2025. A beloved member of the Evans community, she cherished her family, the friendships she cultivated, and the warm, vibrant spirit of the town she called home for so many years.
Born on July 23rd, 1946, in Washington D.C., Janita embarked on a remarkable career with Delta Airlines, where she worked across the United States in reservations and later, human resources. Her professionalism, dedication, and compassion left an indelible mark on her colleagues and the countless lives she touched over the years.
Janita is survived by her sister, Christina Humphrey (Howard “Allen”), her daughter, Toniann Stephens (Scott), her grandson, Tyler Bishof, and her nephew, David Humphrey (Teasha). She is preceded in passing by her parents, RADM (USCG Retired) Irvin J. Stephens and Mary Jane Park Stephens.
A woman of deep faith, Janita was a devoted member of West Acres Baptist Church, where she found meaning and strength in worship, fellowship, and serving others. Her unwavering faith continues to be a source of comfort to those who knew her best.
Janita will be deeply missed by all who were graced by her presence; however, her legacy of love, kindness, and faith will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
