Mrs. Jo Ann Geddings, beloved wife of Coke Geddings Jr., entered into rest on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at the family home.
The family invites friends to a celebration of her life at 2:00 on Saturday, January 7, 2023, in the chapel of Platts Funeral Home on Belair Road. They will receive friends on Friday evening, January 6 from 5:00 until 7:00.
Jo Ann “bloomed wherever she was planted” as a military spouse. She served her family by caring so well for her 3 girls during Coke’s deployments over the years.
She served her community and numerous churches by using her musical gifts for worship, for nursing home visits and services (where her daughters were her frequent soloists & trio choir) and for teaching an endless stream of piano students in her home.
She made the family home lovely and musical, and instilled in her daughters a lifelong love and appreciation for all types of music-from classical to rock and roll.
She showed her family by example how to be gracious and relaxed hostesses by inviting people to dinner and feeding many hungry college students who attended church in Augusta.
And she always found ways to show her 3 girls Jesus, not only in the example she set before them, but with sharing Bible stories, teaching memory verses & children’s choruses, & always making Church attendance a priority, no matter where the family was stationed!
She was a great dancer. Some of you have had the joy of being a dance partner to this little lady as she “cut a rug” well into her 70’s at many wedding receptions and any event playing shag or swing music.
In addition to her husband, Coke, she is survived by her daughters; Lauren Beck Halvorsen (Rick) of Thomson, GA, Nina Jo Geddings O’Neill (Frank) of Washington, DC and Karen Elizabeth Parker (Steve) of Rockville Centre, NY, her grandchildren; Brady Alexander O’Neill (Tiana) of Baltimore, MD, Kevin Ryan O’Neill (Tori) of Evans, GA, Lindsey Lauren Sneeder (Josh) of Grovetown, GA, Haverly Ann Aiken (Caleb) of Grovetown, GA, Stephen Powers Parker of Dover AFB, DE, Katherine Beck Parker of Rockville Centre, NY, and Ava Greer Parker of Rockville Centre, NY and her great grandchildren; Evangeline Beck O’Neill, Colton Fox O’Neill, Shepard Shelby O’Neill, Emersyn James Aiken and Amelia Jo O’Neill.
The family would like to thank you to Encompass Home Health and Enhabit Hospice for their amazing & loving care of our dear “MoMo”. Also, a huge hug of gratitude to someone who became a family member over the almost year in her home, her caregiver, Isabel “Izzy’ McCord. We are forever grateful for all the time and loving care she gave to “The Queen”. And Shirley Woodard, who was only with dear MoMo for two days, we feel a sense of gratitude for her willingness to jump onboard and for the delicious cake she shared with the family.
