Augusta, GA---Mr. John David “Jack” Douglas, Jr., 87, entered into rest on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at University Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm tomorrow Friday, January 20, 2012 in the Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel with Reverend Joe Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at West View Cemetery.
Mr. Douglas was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Marine Corps. He was a Mason and a member of Social Lodge #1 and Scottish Rite. Mr. Douglas served, in the past, as a Richmond County Building Inspector and was a devoted member of Crawford Avenue Baptist Church where he served as Deacon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John David Douglas, Sr. and Mildred Adams Douglas and his sister, Hazel Todd.
Mr. Douglas is survived by his wife of 66 years, Bernice Tankersly Douglas of Augusta, daughters, Pamela Baud (Hank) of Aiken, SC, Cynthia Purvis of Augusta and grandchildren, Terri McCoy (Mark), Michael Douglas and Matthew Purvis.
Pallbearers will be Michael Douglas, P. J. Lee, Chris James, Hank Baud, Matthew Purvis and Frank Pileggi.
The family will receive friends tomorrow Friday, at Platt’s Crawford Avenue from 11:00 am until the hour of services.
