Kathleen Khera

October 30, 1950 — January 9, 2025

Grovetown

Mrs. Kathleen Khera, beloved wife of Jagtar “Jag” Khera, entered into rest on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at Doctors Hospital Augusta.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church with Father Francisco Gamboa officiating. Date and time to be determined. Burial will be at a later date.

Kathy, born October 30, 1950, in Covington, Kentucky, to loving parents Thomas and Ruth, brought joy to the world with her vibrant spirit and generous heart. A cherished daughter and sister, loving wife, devoted mother, adored aunt, and the most doting grandmother imaginable, Kathy's presence was a beacon of warmth and laughter.

A radiant young woman, Kathy graduated from Seton Catholic High School in 1968 and graced the runways of Cincinnati as a model for various department stores. She also embarked on a professional journey as a secretary at Beneficial Finance, where her charm and efficiency were evident. One evening at a lively party at the University of Cincinnati, she met the love of her life, Jag. Their first date, a magical evening under the stars at the Jolly Rogers Drive-In Theater watching "Dr. Zhivago," was a moment of enchantment. Kathy, smitten, felt a striking resemblance between Jag and the film's dashing protagonist, Omar Sharif.

Their love story blossomed, culminating in marriage. In February 1973, they exchanged vows in a small town civil ceremony in the charming town Bad Homburg, Germany. A celebration of their love followed, with a beautiful Catholic ceremony in the picturesque Oberursel.

Kathy's heart overflowed with love, a boundless affection she showered upon her four cherished children. Her love extended beyond her human family, embracing the furry companions who filled her life with joy – her beloved cats and dogs. Indeed, Kathy possessed a unique ability to connect with all creatures, radiating warmth and kindness to everyone she encountered.

Once her children were in high school, she pursued her passion for knowledge at the University of Cincinnati, attending college with her eldest daughter. This led to a successful career as an Information Systems Analyst at Cintas, where she helped fix associates’ sales systems and personal computers.

Beyond her professional achievements, Kathy's life was a tapestry woven with threads of love and kindness. She showered her loved ones with affection, crafting personalized birthday cards and cakes that were treasured keepsakes. Her grandchildren were the apples of her eye, and she delighted in spoiling them with boundless love, attention and gifts.

With a heart overflowing with compassion, Kathy extended her kindness beyond her immediate circle. She was a champion for stray cats, lizards, salamanders, a tadpole and even raccoons, ensuring they had food, shelter, and a loving hand to guide them.

A true keeper of memories, Kathy cherished her family history. Her home was a sanctuary filled with photographs, each one a precious window into the past, a testament to the enduring power of love and connection.

Kathy will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion will forever remain in our hearts

In addition to her husband, Jag, she is survived by her children, Jena Khera (Ram Vijayakumar), Sonya North (Brandon), Amar Khera and Kris Khera (Victoria) her grandchildren, Anushka, Khera, Ellen, Thomas, Evie, Kesar, Chiara and J.J., a brother, Thomas Fecher (Ruth), a cousin, Kim Hargrave and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Fecher and Ruth Chandler Fecher, and a cousin, Dorothea Conroy.
