Kathryn H. Kitty Mrs. Murray

Augusta, GA---Mrs. Kathryn H. “Kitty” Murray, 94, entered into rest on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at National Health Care of North Augusta.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, tomorrow Friday, June 11, 2010 at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church, with The Reverend Mark Van Alstine as celebrant. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park.

Mrs. Murray was a native of Camilla, GA, but had lived in Augusta for more than 80 years. She was the former co-owner of Kitty and Jean’s Beauty Salon, in Augusta and was a former volunteer at St. Joseph Hospital, now Trinity Hospital of Augusta. Mrs. Murray was a member of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church, where she was very active, in the Senior Citizens Program.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, John Vincent Murray, parents, William Edwin and Daisye Geiger Hughes, two sisters, Anne Good and Jane Winslow and a brother, William Edwin Hughes, Jr.

Survivors include her brother, Loren Hughes of Anderson, SC, nephews, William S. Cobb III and wife, Betty of Lexington, GA, Blake Hawkins and wife Mildred of Land O’ Lakes, FL, nieces, Carmen Pride and husband, Pat of N. Augusta, SC, Imelda Bell of Covington, GA, Carolyn Lopez and husband, Maurice of Anderson, SC, JoAnn Scott of Augusta, sister in law, Imelda M. Hawkins of Augusta and a number of great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews and great great great nieces and nephews.

A vigil for the deceased will be held, this evening Thursday, June 10, 2010 at 6:00 pm, in the Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel, visitation for family and friends will follow until 8:00 pm.

Pallbearers will be Ashton Cobb, Maurice Lopez, Jay Denton, Dave Foreman, Jimmy Elliott and Pat Pride.
