Kathy Deas Jones

Kathleen (Kathy) D. Jones, 62, of Augusta GA, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at her residence.

Kathy was born in Augusta to George (Marion) and Myrtis I. Deas on September 10, 1960. She graduated from Curtis Baptist High School and Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor’s in Recreation.

She worked as the Elder Rights Coordinator with the CSRA Regional Commission Area Agency on Aging. Her passion was to advocate for the vulnerable and elderly. Kathy’s life centered around serving her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ faithfully. She devoted herself to her family and friends by making memories and loved living life as a journey that is to be enjoyed with those you love. Her favorite job was being a “GaGa” to her amazing grandson, Holden.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Marion Deas Jr. and sister, Barbara Annette Holt.

Kathy is survived by son, Ryan D. Jones (Monks Corner, SC), daughter, Renae L. Jones (Augusta, GA), and grandson, Holden W. Jones (Augusta, GA).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to When Help Can’t Help, or a charity of your choice.

The family of Kathy Jones wishes to extend our sincere thanks for all the prayers and support during this time. Special recognition to Kathy’s Niece, Julie McDaniel who was like a sister, long-time sister in Christ, Angela Chavous; you both meant so much to her. The numerous calls, cards, and words of encouragement are truly appreciated by us all.

Visitation will be 3-4 PM Friday, May 26, 2023 at Platt’s Funeral Home 337 North Belair Road, Evans, GA 30809, with a funeral services to be held 4 PM Friday, May 26, 2023 in Platt’s Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kevin Steele officiating.
