Keith Alan Petty

February 1, 1969 — December 27, 2023

Keith Alan Petty, son of Robert and Rita Petty, died suddenly in his home on Wednesday, December 27, 2023. He was 54 years old.

Keith served in the US Air Force with the 335th Fighter Squadron including assignment at Al Kharj Air Base, Saudi Arabia during Operation Desert Storm. After leaving service in 1996, Keith returned to Evans, working for several local automotive and logistics services firms before becoming a Code Enforcement Officer in 2010 with Augusta-Richmond County Planning and Development. Keith was happiest working as a code enforcement officer, an occupation suited perfectly with his spirit and life’s purpose. Daily he helped others, experienced unusual adventures, and accumulated true friends -- acquiring a second family among his coworkers within the Augusta-Richmond County government. When not working, Keith reveled in nature, spending uncounted weekend afternoons walking trails at the Phinizy Nature Park or bike riding along the Augusta canal.

Keith is survived by his mother Rita Petty, brothers Tod Petty (Vicki), Scott Petty (Christina), three nieces Praise Stephenson (Josh), Chelsea Zabriskie (Dave) and Jace Hood as well as grandnieces Ava and Brinley Stephenson and Maeve Zabriskie. He is predeceased by his father Robert Petty.
