Kimberly Smith Hicks

Kimberly Smith Hicks, 62, passed away peacefully at home in Augusta, GA on June 19, 2023. 

Kim was an amazing wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend and co-worker. She always had a smile for everyone, no matter how she was feeling, and she will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and beautiful spirit. 

Kim grew up in Richmond, VA and after marrying in 1983 lived in Baltimore, MD; Starkville, MS; Woodbridge, VA; Greenville, NC before moving to Augusta in 2014. 

Her love of people and strong work ethic made her excel in positions such as underwriter for GEICO, head teller at ECB, and procurement specialist at Corsica Technologies. Kim approached every day with love and the idea that most people are good.

She is survived by her daughter, Amy Jackson; sister, Tammy Athens; niece, Alexandra Athens; and brother-in-law, Pete Athens.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rickey P. Hicks; father, John W. Smith; and mother, Barbara P. Smith.

A celebration of Kim’s life will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28 at Platt’s Funeral Home, 337 North Belair Road, Evans, GA. Friends and family will gather one hour prior to her service. Please wear bright colors!

Kim loved her pets fiercely so in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to local ASPCAs or no-kill shelters in her memory.
