Kyoko Shore

February 26, 1931 — December 22, 2024

It is with sorrowful hearts that our family announces the passing of Kyoko K. Shore of Evans, Georgia. Kyoko (Kay) was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and the widow of Ret. Army SGM Donald Almon Shore. Known affectionately as "Grandnana", Kyoko leaves behind her daughter Carolyn Parker (Bruce Parker); granddaughter Lauren Purvis (David Purvis), and her adored great-grandchildren David Benton Purvis, Jr., Charlie Bruce Purvis, and her namesake Joanna Kyoko Purvis, all of Savannah Georgia. She is also survived by many loved ones still living in her home country of Japan, including her brothers Norimasa and Shozo Kasai of Takikawa, Hokkaido, many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and a special niece Yumiko Furukawa of Sapporo, Japan

Kyoko was a quiet, shy person who was immensely dedicated to her family. She was an accomplished cook, seamstress, and gardener who loved growing roses. She was an enthusiastic shopper and filled many fun afternoons with granddaughter Lauren at the bookstore, the fabric store, and the mall. Kyoko was a master hair stylist who worked at the salon at JB White's in National Hills for over 20 years before continuing her career from her home salon. Upon retirement, she was a proud member of the Sakura Kai Japanese Woman's Society which met in the West Lake Golf Club in Martinez, Georgia. Through Sakura Kai, Kyoko helped sponsor Japanese golfers and the Tokyo Broadcasting Network each year for the Masters Golf Tournament. Kyoko especially enjoyed playing cards and taking Japanese flower arranging classes with the group.

Kyoko was blessed to live a full 93 years and bore witness to many fascinating events. She will be greatly missed.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 4,2025 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the family home at 820 Park Chase Drive, Evans, Georgia. The family will have a private burial.
