Juanita Jones

Mrs. Juanita “Nita” Copeland Jones, beloved wife of the late Ben Eugene Jones, entered into rest on Monday, January 20, 2025.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 25, 2025, in the chapel of Platts Funeral Home, 337 North Belair Road, with the Rev. Philip Hedgecoth officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. 

Juanita, a native of Greer, SC, was one of five children born to Gaines and Clara Copeland. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Furman University, before meeting and marrying Ben Jones. They moved to Augusta soon after and started a family. She went to work at the Medical College of Georgia, where she retired after more than 30 years of dedicated service. She was a member of Evans First Baptist Church.

She’s survived by her sons, Jeremy Jones (Terri) and Anthony Jones, her grandchildren, Megan and Caroline, and her brothers, Freddie Copeland and Johnny Copeland. In addition to her husband, Ben, she was preceded in death by her sister, Alice Duncan and her brother, Joe Copeland.
