Evans

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.””

Luke 2:13-14 NIV

My grandmother loved angels. You would many times see her wearing one around her neck and find them scattered throughout her home decor, and to many who knew her she was the embodiment of an angel, but mostly to her sweetheart of 70years, Harry.

In her last few years, as her memories subsided, she would forget many things and many faces, but she would always remember two things, Harry and hymns.

Many would say they are happy she now gets to be reunited with Harry in Heaven, but in reality, it was her Lord and Savior with whom she went to meet face to face on the night of November 21st who greeted her with a host of angels welcoming her into her forever home.

"Her boys", as she would call them, Bob (Debbie), Steve (Stuart) and Keith (Laurie) learned how to be loved through her example with their father. Her grandchildren Rebecca, Sarah, Tamara, Caleb, Tyler, Hannah, Jonathan and Patrick learned how to endure with hope, smile

through pain and appreciate a good gingerbread cookie. And her great grandchildren, although they would not get to experience her fully, would learn how to love through the love she had passed down to them in others. She loved to sew and her love for the work showed in each piece she made, but the threads she sewed into the fabric of our lives will always be the most beautiful.

Elon, Mom, Mema, Grandma, friend. She was known by many names, but the only name that mattered on her last day was child of God, and that she was.

I can just hear her whistling with the angels with a clear mind, new body and a smile bigger than even one her Harry could give her.

Friends are invited to gather for a graveside service on Monday, November 25 at 1:00 in the afternoon at Westover Memorial Park. The Rev. Dave Vosseller will officiate.

If so desired, memorials may be made to Lakemont Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 411 Pleasant Home Rd, Augusta, GA 30907
